The Windows of Philadelphia’s Streets becoming our canvas.
The First 100 Days, a poster project cultivated by Streetsdept and supported for Mural Arts Philadelphia, is designed to engage the public with policy issues the participating artists would like to see addressed during the first 100 days of the Biden/Harris presidential administration! These posters were distributed around Philadelphia via multiple Street Dept handoff pop-ups.

I was given the policy, “aid economic equity through public-private investment for black and brown entrepreneurs,” as the basis of my poster design. The main aim is to present the policy to the viewer, who might not be aware of the proposed policy.
While all viewers may not be entrepreneurs, the statistics of black and brown businesses only accounting for 7.5% of the small businesses in the United States serves as a bleak reminder that inequality continues to affect the upward climb for a better future for black and brown communities.
I utilized a bold monochromatic palette of vibrant greens to grab the attention of anyone who passes the windows in which the poster is displayed, and the green color invokes the understanding of money and wealth. The policy is stated in big letters to keep the policy the focus of the user's eye, and then promised solutions by the Biden-Harris administration are interspersed throughout the larger policy.
